Fibromyalgia Symptoms

If you suffer from fibromyalgia, you know that there are NUMEROUS signs of fibromyalgia symptoms. You can also choose to download our Fibromyalgia Symptoms checklist which is a little bit more in depth and it will also show you which areas of your health are affected by each of these specific symptoms. This helps when you’re looking to get some answers on how you can better your personal health and get rid of some of the pain you’re experiencing!

One of the many signs of Fibromyalgia is an all over body ache. Additionally, specific tender points on the body may be painful to touch and you can experience swelling in certain areas, disturbances in sleep, and mood disturbances and/or depression.

Many symptoms and triggers involved with Fibro also crossover into Chronic Fatigueyou can see a full-list of those symptoms here.

With Fibromyalgia, your muscles may feel like they have been pulled or like you have overexerted them. They’ll feel that way even without exercise! Sometimes, your muscles twitch, burn, or have deep stabbing pain and you can’t explain why.

It’s true, Fibromyalgia isn’t any fun and as you see, there are MANY symptoms but here are the big three that you should be on the look out for:

1. Painfibromyalgia symptoms: pain

One of the most common signs of Fibromyalgia is experiencing pain. Each person has a unique experience with pain and depending on the level, you can experience sharp pain to dull pain to achy pain. Regardless of the level you’re experiencing, pain is a common theme for sufferers! It can be at your head, neck, shoulder, jaw, back, legs, knees, feet… anywhere! I think you can see that pain is the key landmark of Fibromyalgia. The pain can be there constantly but more than likely it comes and goes throughout the days and weeks. As previously mentioned, it also varies in intensity as well.  Some days you feel better and the pain is barely there. On those days, you are able to get up & go about your life but unfortunately, those with fibro find that these days are far and few between. Then there are the bad days… You wake up feeling like you’ve been run over by a car, a truck and a bus all at the same time! Your whole body aches and every move you make causes a jabbing pain throughout your body. Before you can even get yourself out of bed, you know that the day is ruined.

2. Fatiguefibromyalgia-symptoms: fatigue

Another Fibromyalgia symptom - fatigue.  Again, the level of fatigue varies from patient to patient and from day to day, but for many patients, this is the most debilitating and worst part of fibro. Saying you are tired just doesn’t do it justice – it’s so much more than that. You feel like you can’t get out of bed and you don’t have enough energy to even try. The worst thing about it is that you want to be able go to sleep and get some rest, yet you are in so much pain and mentally you are so alert that you can’t fall asleep. The majority of fibromyalgia patients have a lot of trouble sleeping and that contributes to both the pain and the fatigue, as well as the last major component of fibro symptoms which will be talked about next.

3. Fibro Fogfibromyalgia symptoms: fibro fog

The third and last MAJOR Fibromyalgia symptom is referred to as “fibro fog” – This means that you just blank out. You can be in the middle of a conversation and then just stop and realize that you don’t remember what you’ve been talking about! Sometimes, you’ll walk into a room and can’t even remember what you went in there for.  You always, always forget things and you leave other things behind because you can’t remember to take them with you. This is when you know that you’re in the midst of fibro fog. All your strength and your mental abilities are spent dealing with the pain and fatigue, you can’t put your mind on anything things else, even very important things :(

Fibro is a confusing condition for many people, including doctors, and so it’s not uncommon for these doctors to misdiagnose patients. This is because fibromyalgia can sometimes cause signs which are similar to tendinitis, osteoarthritis, and even bursitis. However, fibro is different because with fibromyalgia, the feelings of pain and stiffness are throughout the entire body while the other conditions are localized to one specific spot.

I was first diagnosed with Fibro in 89.Now that I’ve reached my 60′s I feel that my GP feels I’ve had it this long, nothing can be done and your Prescriptions are on repeat.Just get on with it.I have Diabetes Type 2,Adhesive Arachnoiditis and had a Stroke in 2000 .I was told in 2009 I have Peripheral and Autonomic Neuropathy,my feet and legs are painful 24/7 but I try to find something to laugh at every day!!I am not under any Specialist for anything and just go to my GP which usually ends up being a waste of time or just coming away with another prescription for Painkillers.Really feel as if I’m banging my head on a brick wall. I think this site may help me to see what others in the same situation are doing to help themselves.I’m lucky that I have a lovely supportive Hubby and Kids.
