If you have friends who just call you lazy or act like you’re faking the pain, find new friends!
If you have family who doesn’t understand and thinks you’re crazy, well… you can’t find a new family BUT you can make one!
The 10 in 20 taught me a lot (If you haven’t read my reflection post yet, click here and check it out) but the most important thing is that you have to surround yourself with POSITIVE PEOPLE. There is a quote that says, “You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind,” and I couldn’t agree more!
When you surround yourself with negative people, it wears on you and it can tear both you and your spirits down. Fibromyalgia isn’t an easy thing to live with so why be around people who make it harder and not easier?
There WILL BE ups and downs on this journey, just like any other journey you could face, and so that’s why you need good, happy, and understanding people around you. They’ll be there to make sure to pick you up when you’re down or feeling like you want to give up. Remember when I thought I didn’t want to work out? Everyone on the Dr. Fibro Facebook Page gave me the encouragement I needed to press on.
We all need these people in our lives!
A positive and open mind will get you far. You can’t get different results if you keep doing the exact same thing. If what you’re doing right now isn’t working for you, then explore another path.
This is when you can look to positive people to encourage you to try something new they can help you step outside of your comfort zone. They’ll be the ones who will make you laugh when you need it or lend an ear when you need to talk about the pain.
Now, on the other hand – Be this person for someone else. We can all talk on the Dr. Fibro page so when someone reaches out and is looking for support and encouragement, write back to them. You can send over a positive quote that you refer back to or just say, “I know how you feel. Here’s to a better tomorrow!
” It doesn’t have to be anything big but just knowing that someone understands can mean A LOT!
If not on the Dr. Fibro page, look around to one of the friends or family members who needs a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. Be the friend that you would like to be. You’ll see… it pays off
